The Ferrari GTS and GTB Turbo were a special variant for the Italian market from 1986 onwards in order to comply with the tax legislation there. Accordingly, at that time the expenses for vehicles with an engine capacity of over two litres could not be deducted from the tax. Visually and technically, the GTS/GTB Turbo corresponded – apart from the engine – to the 328 model, which succeeded the 308 in 1985. There had also been a 208 Turbo version of the 308 for Italy before. The transversely fitted V8 mid-engine with two valves per cylinder had a reduced displacement of 1,990 cc instead of 3,185 cc (328) or 2,925 cc (308) and was basically the same design as the 208 Turbo power unit. The reduced power due to the smaller displacement was compensated by an installed turbocharger with an intercooler, so that the 1986 version now achieved 254 hp. Visually, the turbo can only be recognised by additional lower air intakes in front of the rear wings and a different air grille cover in the engine flap. In general, the 328 and the GTS/GTB Turbo were a modified form of the predecessor. Design changes included new front and rear skirts and bumpers. They were painted completely in body colour and made the car look more modern and uniform. Inside, there were some detail changes to the dashboard, a redesigned centre console with push buttons instead of toggle levers and sliders, and revised seats. In three years (1986 to 1989) only 828 GTS Turbo and 308 GTB Turbo were manufactured.
This Ferrari GTS Turbo is a "tax-optimised" version for the Italian market and otherwise corresponds to the modification introduced in 1985 in the form of the 328. The power unit is a 2-litre V8 engine with turbocharging and an output of 254 hp. The classic Ferrari colour scheme is rosso corsa (red) with a light beige leather interior. The car was delivered and registered in Italy on 7 May 1987 and was based there for a long time. In 2015, the GTS Turbo came to the current owner in Germany and was part of a larger collection. In 2016, an inspection was carried out at an authorised Ferrari dealer and the valve cover gaskets and camshaft sealing rings were replaced. In addition, the chassis including the brake system was comprehensively overhauled, the sills were repaired on both sides, the underbody was repainted, the wheel arches were sealed and various other work was carried out. A corresponding invoice for 45,000 EUR (!) is available. In the following years, the car was regularly serviced at a Ferrari specialist workshop: in 2017 a service with a timing belt change and the fitting of new tyres and in 2020 a further service according to the manufacturer's specifications. A new service and timing belt change can be carried out as required and by arrangement in the course of the sale. The scope of delivery includes the on-board tools and original jack as well as the emergency wheel. The on-board folder with service booklet is also present. This sports car from Modena is in excellent overall condition with a well-preserved interior and only very few signs of use, which correspond to the low mileage of just under 32,000 km.
