The Mercedes-Benz G 350 CDI

The development of the G-Model began as early as 1972 as a cooperation between Daimler-Benz and Steyr-Daimler-Puch (now Magna Steyr). Series production began in 1979. Designed for best off-road capability, the G-Model was aimed at real users of AWD features such as hunters, farmers as well as civilian and non-civilian government institutions, e.g. armed forces, fire brigades, disaster control and the UN. The body shape has remained almost unchanged since 1979 until today. In the course of various facelifts, only optical details were modernised. Technically, however, there have been continuous improvements and updates. The series was always brought up to date, particularly with regard to engine variants, interior and safety and comfort equipment. In this way, the G-Model developed from a rustic "working machine" into a luxurious lifestyle off-roader that lost none of its off-road capability. In the meantime, the G-Model has become a classic icon and a sales "long-runner" in the off-road vehicle segment. On the engine side, there were numerous variants over the years with 4-, 5-, 6- and 8-cylinder engines, both as petrol and (turbo) diesel. The 350 CDI engine variant had a displacement of 3.0 litres and a standard output of 224 hp. This engine version was only available for a short time.

Details

The car presented here was delivered to the authorised Mercedes Benz dealer Kunzmann in April 2008 and registered as a demonstration car. The colour scheme in Iridium Silver metallic with leather interior in black is original. In September 2008, the BRABUS "PowerXtra Performance Kit" with a power increase of the 350 CDI V6 turbo diesel engine from 224 to 261 hp was installed via this dealership. This power output is registered in the vehicle title and the certificate for this engine upgrade is available. In 2009, this G 350 was sold to Barcelona. There it was registered on two owners until it was imported back to Germany recently in the summer of 2022. The vehicle is comprehensively equipped with many comfort options. Production of the convertible G-Models was discontinued at the end of 2013. Since then, this body variant has become a sought-after collector's vehicle and is a stylish off-road classic in its most desirable form. For this car with a great colour combination, very good history and equipment, a "collector status" with high "utility value" and suitability for everyday use at the same time are not a contradiction.
